This is a freaking great idea. Sadly, it’s a pain in the ass to implement, so I won’t bother. But this is exactly the sort of thing Apple should have built-into Stacks to make them better. I love the concept of Stacks, but the implementation is definitely lacking. I’m sure it’ll get better over the next few releases of OS X — just like everything else has. Visit site »
Jason calls the new icons an “utter design failure.” I don’t really agree. I think learning that Photoshop is a blue “PS” is easier than learning it’s a feather on a white box. But maybe that’s just me. Great post and great comments, anyhow. Lots to think about here. Visit site »
I kind of suspected the PS CS3 icon was temporary. Guess not. Overall, I’m not a huge fan of the new icon scheme visually, but it definitely works much better from a usability perspective. Plus, they totally ripped off Nathan. Also, here’s more on the new Adobe desktop brand identity system. Visit site »

Interesting discussion going on here. While I think Khoi’s icons are uber-cute, I do tend to agree with the bulk of the commenters in that I don’t believe the users need a choice in feed format, or even need to know what feed format they’re getting. Maybe if you want to tuck “advanced feed options” away somewhere for advanced users — but in general, one feed to rule them all, in the flavor of your choosing, is the way to go. And, if you need a label for the icon, then I suggest “feed.” Visit site »
