Really nice design work on The Las Vegas Sun’s new weather page. And of course, I’d be remiss to not point out that it’s Ellington and Django-powered. ;) Visit site »
The fine folks at the Spokane Spokesman Review are looking for a web developer to help them with the launch and care of their new Ellington/Django-powered site. So, if you’re looking for a great gig in my neck of the woods, check ‘em out. Visit site »
And just in time for the Nevada caucus. Really nice site design here, even if it does feels a little bit too inspired by the New York Times. Overall, very well done. Another nice showcase for Ellington and Django. Visit site »
Matt Waite’s proposal for the Knight News Challenge is to build a free and open-source Django-powered CMS for small-town newspapers. It’s a really great-sounding proposal, and a little competition for Ellington can only be a good thing, in my mind. Visit site »
The Post launches its first Ellington powered site (it has several Django-powered sites, but this is the first one to use the Django-based CMS we built here in Lawrence). Lookin’ good! Read all about it straight from the horse’s mouth. Visit site »
My old cronies at the Journal-World launched yet another Django/Ellington-powered newspaper site today. Christian Metts is primarily responsible for the design work on this one (no doubt with some help from Nathan Borror and Richard Cornish). Visit site »
APN, a leading publisher of newspapers and magazines in New Zealand and Austrailia, roll out the first of several Ellington sites they have in the works. Congrats to Anthony and the team at APN! Visit site »
The Knoxville News-Sentinel drops the rigid confines of Vignette and jumps on the open, restriction-free Ellington train — and put together a nice redesign, to boot. Visit site »
A very nice (if long) report on the state of communities in the context of online news. Includes mentions of LJWorld.com, Lawrence.com, the Django framework, and our Ellington CMS. Visit site »
A nice profile on Adrian’s work, from Django and Ellington to ChicagoCrime.org to his project at The Washington Post. Visit site »
World Online has four nominations, and a cursory glance suggests close to half the nominees are running Ellington and/or Django. By my quick count, there are 13 Ellington-powered sites nominated in the 11 categories. Sweet! Visit site »
With the rollout of the San Angelo Standard-Times (Texas) and Anderson Independent-Mail (South Carolina) papers, Scripps now has 11 of its papers running the Ellington CMS, which is based on the Django framework. I’m not quite sure what the total number of news and entertainment websites under Ellington is, but it’s go to be pushing 30 by now — which is about 25 more than this time last year, by my count. Wilson, working for Apple, ripped off Nathan, who ripped of Wilson, who ripped off Apple, who hired Wilson. Or something. Amusing. Visit site »
