The SXSW panel picker is back. So, you know, if you’re into that sort of thing… Visit site »
March 13th, 2009–March 17th, 2009 in Austin, TX
This September, several industry leaders in the mobile web space, including my old boss Brian Fling, will convene on Lawrence, KS, the coolest little town you’ve never heard of, for Design for Mobile 2008. Should be a great event. Visit site »
SXSW is back! And this time, they enlisted Blue Flavor to do some IA/UX work for them. Nick and Tom spent a great deal of time trying to get the IA for the site just right, and then SXSW took it from there with their internal resources. It’s definitely a big improvement, in my mind. Visit site »
Looks like the team at Carsonified has another great event planned. I had a blast at last year’s FOWD NYC. I wish I could go this year, but it doesn’t look like it’ll happen. You should definitely go, though. Visit site »
In which I detail four events I’ll be speaking at this Fall.
The DjangoCon site is up, and features talks from Guido Van Rossum, Adrian Holovaty, Jacob Kaplan-Moss, Simon Willison, and more. Looks like it should be a great event.
Also, “Welcome to DjangoCon” sounds a lot like “Welcome to ZomboCom,” to me. Visit site »
WJS 2008 looks like it’s going to be awesome. Last year, it had probably a better combination of fun and education than any other conference I attended. This year ought to be even better, as the event has moved to Atlanta, which, at least in my opinion, is a far better place than Dallas. Be there! Visit site »
The first annual DjangoCon will take place September 6th and 7th at the Googleplex in Mountain View. It will coordinate with the 1.0 release of the popular web application framework, and will include a release party on Saturday night. There is only space for about 200 attendees, but the conference is free (you are, however, encouraged to make an optional donation to the Django Software Foundation to help cover costs). Visit site »
…and New York, and San Francisco, and Chicago. For Seattle, they’re planning a party in mid-July and “some bigger event” in late July. Sounds like fun. Via Rex Visit site »
If you’re planning to attend BarCampSeattle (and I am!), you need to head over to the BarCampSeattle site and RSVP (it’s free). This will create your badge and get you registered. See you there! Visit site »
Webmaster Jam Session, one of the best web events I’ve ever been to when I spoke there in Dallas last year, is back this year and is moving to the ATL. Woo! Sorry, Big D., but Atlanta is sooo much more appealing! Anyway, I’ve again agreed to speak this year, and I can’t wait. Hope to see you all there! Visit site »
Jeremy did an amazing job of liveblogging FOWD London 2008. Sounds like it was a great event. With I could have been there. I love London and I love Carsonified’s events (and I love all my friends at Carsonified, too!). Next time… Visit site »
I’ve had this one in my “to watch later” pile for several weeks, and I finally got around to it last night. Cabel’s one of the more entertaining speakers I’ve ever head the pleasure of seeing in person, and this talk about the development of Coda certainly lives up to that. He’s insightful, funny, and interesting. Check it out. In my opinion, Panic is still synonymous with great Mac software — even as I was never the target market for Coda and Expan drive has largely made Transmit unnecessary for me. Visit site »
For anyone who still thinks it’s not possible to create beautiful typesettings using HTML and CSS. Well done, Coudal! Visit site »
Good-sounding event for the development crowd (moreso than the design crowd). Features talks on JavaScript/AJAX, geo, APIs, mobile, and more from big names at Google including Guido Van Rossum and David Glazer. San Francisco, late May. Visit site »
