In further support of the Brian Ford article I linked yesterday, this word frequency infographic indicates that McCain’s blog talks about Obama more than anything else. How often does Obama’s blog talk about McCain? According to the infographic, none. Visit site »

My cousin Brian compares the advertising strategies of Obama and McCain to that of Apple and its competitors, respectively. It’s an interesting comparison. While Apple just keeps showing sexy shots of its killer products and whetting people’s appietie, Sprint (for example)…wait for it…shows sexy shots of Apple’s iPhone in the ads for its Instinct and calls it an “iPhone killer.” Smary, Sprint. Real smart. Brian says:

Perhaps the biggest flaw of John McCain’s campaign (and the criticisms levied by his supporters) lies in the decision to lend even more face-time to an immensely popular opponent who isn’t suffering from a lack of face-time…

Sen. Barack Obama has clinched the Democratic nomination for president, according to CNN estimates, making him the first African-American in U.S. history to lead a major-party ticket.

With apologies to Sam Cooke: It’s been a long time running, but I know a change is gonna come. Yes, yes it will. Visit site »

As if I wasn’t already sold on Obama, now he’s committing to having Al Gore “at the table” when it comes to the problem of climate change. Can Hillary just quit already? Visit site »

It’s being reported today that Barack Obama wrote yesterday’s historic speech himself. That’s phenomenal. I don’t believe I’ve ever seen, in my lifetime, someone who so completely embodies the word “presidential” as it means to me. Whether you’re a supporter of Obama’s or not, you can’t deny that a politician writing a speech like that, by himself in two days, is simply unheard of. Visit site »

Despite the heated back-and-forth over the last few months, Clinton Wednesday hinted that she would be open to a Clinton-Obama ticket in the fall. “Well, that may, you know, be where this is headed,” Clinton told CBS Wednesday. “But, of course, we have to decide who’s on top of the ticket…”

Glad to hear it. I’d hate to see the two beat each other up so much over the course of the primaries that they can’t work together in the end. I’d definitely vote for a Clinton/Obama ticket (though I’d be much happier voting for an Obama/Clinton one). Visit site »

In early 2007, Marc Andreessen spent an hour and a half talking with Barack Obama. This is what he learned about the man who, it seems, everyone under the age of 50 wants to see as our next president. Visit site »

Derek talks about why he feels Barack Obama is the best candidate for the job, and his reasons echo mine exactly. I like Hillary’s ideas and policies (and they’re really not very different from Obama’s), but she doesn’t have the “intangibles” that Barack has. He’s inspiring, he seems to have an ability to unite people, and he just feels very “human.” Canidate selectors always tell me I should be voting for Hillary (by a tiny margin, usually), but they never take these things into account. I’ve got a client meeting at 1:30 tomorrow, but I might try to swing by the Obama event before I head into the office, as it’s two blocks from my house. Native Washingtonians seem excited that our primaries and caucuses actually matter this year, as usually a front-runner is already in place by this time. For me, I’m interested in getting involved for the first time ever, for three reasons:

  1. There is actually a candidate (Obama) I feel I can really support (and another, in Hillary, that I like fairly well, also). This hasn’t happened since Ross Perot in ‘92, which was the last time I really got involved in an election (albeit a mock election at my high school) — and that was a wasted vote, anyway.
  2. This year, I’d be voting in a state where a democratic votes actually matters. Kansas has historically been such a red state that it’s never seemed worth the effort (although there’s some evidence of a leftward shift starting to happen in Kansas).
  3. I’m just finally fed up enough with the current administration to care.

So, if I have the time, you might see me at KeyArena tomorrow, and if I’m eligible to caucus on Saturday despite not being registered or having a valid ID in Washington, you might find me there, as well. Visit site »
