The Office: The Best of Andy Bernard
Nice video complication of Andy’s best moments. I admit, I wasn’t sure about bringing on the new characters this season, but Andy (Ed Helms) has turned out to be hilarious. Between him and Dwight, The Office has two of the most over-the-top funny characters on all of TV — and they hate each other, to boot. Good stuff.

ABC News Video: TV 2.0
Despite having the number 2.0 in the title, this short piece is actually interesting an entertaining, thanks in large part to the presence of media maven Jeff Jarvis. You know, it would be cool if I could watch these little news clips on my couch…

Macworld 2007 Predictions
Sure, I’ll play this game like everyone else. I’m more excited about this particular Macworld than I have been in quite a while, primarily because it seems as though Apple is finally ready to make a real leap into the living room and possibly the mobile space — two places I’ve wanted Apple to be for the longest time.
So, without further ado, here’s what I think we’ll see The Steve talking about in tomorrow’s big Macworld Expo Keynote Address.

Microsoft Zune commercial parodies “I’m a Mac” ads
Sure, it doesn’t mention that you can only listen to the song three times before it explodes inside your Zune, but still, I like this commercial. Funny, pointed, and direct. It’s an interesting twist to see Microsoft acting as the little guy poking fun of the big behemoth in the industry, like Apple has been doing to Windows for so many years.

IGN’s Top 50 LOST Loose Ends
Really nice-looking piece at IGN on the plethora remaining unsolved mysteries of LOST. The “every time we answer a question, ask five more” mentality of the LOST writers is the trademark of the show, but it is starting to wear a little thin. Hopefully we’ll start getting some answer sooner than later.

Lost Musings by Brian Ford: The Problem of Nikki and Paulo
Nice piece by Brian on the thus-far underwhelming Season Three of LOST. I’m still very into the show and no where near giving up, but I’ll definitely conceded that Nikki and Paulo were a bad move and that the show hasn’t been as good as the first two seasons. I have faith, though.

How to Fix Shows Like ‘Lost’ — New York Magazine
I’m not really convinced LOST is broken (I’m still loving it), but I do agree with the general premise here — that we need more shot-ish (one or two-season) run shows with a beginning, middle, and an end, that we can count on to pay off. As the writer says, we need the TV equivalent of a novella: the limited run show.

LOST Survival Guide on iTunes — for free, today only
The description says: “The LOST Survival Guide is an absolute must-see if you’re feeling a little…well, lost…when it comes to one of the hottest shows on television.” I’ve not watched it yet, so I don’t know how good it is. But, either way, it’s cool that they’d do this.

Random updates and thoughts
Well, it’s been a while since my last post, so I felt like I needed to say something here to make sure you all knew that book writing hasn’t made me suicidal (yet).
I have been quite busy, though — and frankly, haven’t had anything terribly interesting to say, thus the lack of posts. That having been said, there are a few things worth updating you all on, so I thought I’d combine them into one short post.

Stingray kills ‘Crocodile Hunter’
Wow. Steve Irwin, the Australian TV presenter known as the “Crocodile Hunter,” is dead after a stingray barb went through his heart during the filming of a documentary off Australia’s north coast on the Great Barrier Reef. Just wow. I don’t think I’ve ever heard of a person dying from a ray sting. I can’t imagine what could have happened here.

Done The Impossible, Firefly/Serenity Documentary
The creators of this amazing 81-minute documentary explain: “The story chronicles the rise, fall, and rebirth of the cult TV show “Firefly” as told from the perspective of the fans who helped save it.” This CC-licensed lower-res version of the full documentary is released partly as a promotional tool for the full DVD, which includes an insane amount of extras. Kick ass. When you can no longer run…
