is this with a 50/f1.8? The light blurs looks surprisingly non-polygonal.

    Yep, Nikon’s 50mm f/1.8.

Dotsara, The ISO had little to do with this. Check the EXIF, it was the 1.8 - and Jeff most likely had the focus thrown back to just inches. Jeff, excellent shot! Doing this stuff is so much fun. As Rob mentioned, it looks well rounded too. I have the same lens and often get septagons (which can still look cool). It then becomes obvious that I have a seven bladed lens. A lot of the newer AF-S lenses are starting to make rounded blades now which makes things look a lot cleaner and sharper.

@Dustin: heh, I know this shot has nothing to do with the ISO. Doesn’t change the fact that I’m jealous his D80 can do ISO 100. (:

ah. Ok Dotsara. I hear ya. One thing I didn’t like about the D40 was that its lowest was 200. I think the new D60 is doing the same thing too which is weird. What are you shooting with?

Not to answer for her, but Sara’s main axe is a D300, which I believe also has a bottom-end of ISO 200.

My D300 has ISO 100…. Sara, keep spinning the dial left as far as it can go! It’s called Lo 1.0. Same with H 1.0 (that’s ISO 6400). And be sure to join the D300 user group too :)

Great shot. I like the smokey feel of the negative space.

okay, I just like that you called it my main axe. :D As for the ISO business, the “LO” and “HI” in the D300 seem to be more exposure compensation-style rather than true ISO values. It’s splitting hairs a little, but I’m all right with it. ISO 200 on my “axe” (hee) killer, anyway. Very low noise, etc.

The LO and HI’s are to prevent you from actually using them (so novices don’t accidentally use them). They used technical verbiage so it would scare away beginners that don’t know what they’re doing (but you do!). Although, when you’re shooting in auto-ISO mode, it won’t go below 200. Turn that off, and you’re good to go. It ‘is’ ISO 100. It’s the same thing on the D80, so don’t be too jealous ;)
