Actually, there aren’t. There used to be, but not anymore. Sometime several years ago, skateboarding got lumped into the same category as motocycling — that is, a “hazardous individual sport.” The law now basically says that if you skateboard, you do so at your own risk and the property owner holds no responsibility for your injuries. This is the law that really revitalized skateboarding, because it allowed cities to start opening up skate parks without having to worry about massive lawsuits.
i don’t imagine the design, tooling and installation of these draconian little widgets was free either. how do these idiots justify the expense of these measures as compared to damage done my skateboarders?
