This is far from a great picture, but it’s exactly the kind of picture that lends itself best to this technique. It’s a from-above shot with a lot of depth to it, and a lot of big things (building, cars) to make look smaller. The directional lighting of the street lamps also lends to the basement-train-set effect.
The basic idea is to apply macro-stye lens blur to very not-macro pictures. Totally tricks the eye with the right picture. Lotsa fun.
