Kansas coach Bill Self said Thursday he will stay at Kansas instead of going to his alma mater Oklahoma State. And to anyone who thought he’d leave: I told you so. :)

Isn’t that what Roy said?

Heh. Indeed. And then Roy left — like four years later.
Truthfully, whether or not we keep Self doesn’t matter a lot to me. I like the guy and I hope to keep him. But, Kansas basketball is much bigger than any one coach. James Naismith left; we got Phog Allen. Larry Brown left; we got Roy Williams. Roy left; we got Bill Self.
If Self leaves, we’ll just get the next great coach. That’s what being one of the all-time elite programs gets you, I guess. :)

Self will probably stay, but that’s also what he said before he left Illinois. But why worry now? Bask in the glory of the KU championship at least for a little while.

Like I said, I’m not the least bit worried. If he stays, awesome. If not, we’ll find the next great coach.
