There was lightning in Seattle last night. Not impressive lightning, mind you. Just plain-jane, boring-ass lightning. And yet today, KING5 TV has a video of it on their site. It’s big news. That cracks me up. I seriously think most long-time Seattleites wouldn’t last through one Kansas storm without running for underground shelter.

Oh, this is very typical of Seattle media, and not really a reflection on the people that live here at alll. We’ve been laughing at this kind of weather related sensationalism for years here.

    Lightning Storm 2007!!!!

    Good to know, Keith. :)

Jeff: Yeah - they need to see some of the big, more intense thunderstorms down in KC eh? (I mean - the place in renowned for it’s spectacular weather).

    Keith:

    Lightning Storm 2007!”

Hehehe - good to know that the Seattleites have their sense of humour intact! :)

Jeff: An interesting aside comment related to this - there have been a couple of tornadoes that hit major urban areas in the UK in the past year or so…and the UK Press went crazy about it! Sure…the tornadoes themselves were a bit unusual for the places that had them - but they were not that big or even all that strong (compared to those monsters you get in the Midwest).

Weather Sensationalism’ (as Keith calls it) appears to be alive and well here in the UK too! ;)
