XKCD has posted a map representing online communites. This is one of the most entertaining drawing I’ve seen in ages. Be sure to look long and hard — the real humor is in the minute details. Great, great stuff.

    No Newsvine?

Damn, my community of choice doesn’t even make the map!

I was a bit surprised there was no Newsvine (and also no Blogger), but the map still rocks, even without them. Not sure if it was inadvertently left off, or if it’s traffic doesn’t warrant it making the map.

Surely Newsvine gets more traffic than second life?

(Perhaps I’m underestimating the popularity of MMORPGs)

But yes — I thought it was really funny.

Second Life is immensely popular — I’d be shocked if Newsvine got more traffic. Second Life’s been getting a lot more mainstream press lately, with features in magazines like Maxim and TIME.

According to Alexa (which certainly isn’t a perfeclt accurate source, but it’s the best we’ve got), the Second Life website is more popular than Newsvine, and that’s just the website — not the game itself.
