Lachlan Hunt has a nice introduction to HTML 5 over at ALA. At this point, I’m pretty much convinced that HTML 5 is the future of our medium (not XHTML). If you’re not up on the latest good, give this article a read.

    I think it’s safe to say at this point that XHTML has failed to live up to its promise. Whether that’s the fault of XHTML or implementation is pretty irrelevant… this late in the game, it still doesn’t provide any advantage over HTML. If there’s no advantage, why bother.

    So yeah, I’m definitely watching HTML5, and it does appear to offer some real advantages. I know some folks have some beefs with it, but for the most part they sound like the more academic and largely irrelevant in-fighting.
