Andy think I’m the 25th best web designer in the world. I’m certain I don’t agree, but it’s nice of him to say, nonetheless. Thank you, Andy.

Alphabetical order you may even be number 1? : )

I’m not even really in the loop — and it seems like he left some names off the list that most would expect to appear.

Well, I can definitely think of people that are missing, and I always am quick to mention that I’m sure there are hundreds of great web designs out there whose names we don’t simply because they don’t have a blog or similar (he who is the loudest web designer is known as the best web designer? :) ), but…there are two good reason some names you might be looking for would be missing:

    1. They could be listed by their company, or “doing business as” name (like Jesse Bennett-Chamberlain is listed as 31Three).
    2. They may not appear to be available for freelance work. Andy noted that he was referring to hirable freelancers or very small web firms. So, those who work on in-house teams and don’t appear to be available for side jobs (Khoi Vinh comes to mind) may have been excluded.

I’m sure I missed a ton of talented designers. And, Jeff, you are correct. I did try to steer away from large firms.

But, I do believe this is a good exercise. I’d love to see if some qualified people could help refine my selections.
