1,100 pound Tiger shark caught off Martha’s Vineyard
While this is certainly a huge fish to catch with a rod and reel, adult Tiger sharks can actually weigh upwards of 2000 pounds. So, within the species, this one is actually fairly average-sized.

Which GUI OS X text editor do you prefer for HTML/CSS/JS development?
Yes, I know the venerable Mr. Hicks did the same survey, but that was over a year ago, and I’d like to see where we stand today. Over the past few months, I have bounced back and forth between a handful of editors that are all good in their own right, but also all have issues that make them not 100% satisfying. So, what are you currently using for front-end web development on OS X? Before you speak on behalf of your favorite, allow me to define my personal requirements for a great text-editor and my experiences with some existing ones.

Don’t phunk, err, mess with my lyrics.
A few moments ago, whilst participating in my three block commute from home to the office, a DJ on the local radio station intro’d the upcoming song as “Black Eyed Peas, Don’t Mess With My Heart.” Now, being a fan of B.E.P. and not being a particularly regular top 40 radio station listener, I know the song — but by a different name. The album version is clearly called “Don’t Phunk With My Heart.”

IE: On “having layout”
If you wish to full understand IE’s ridiculous quirks, you’ll need to know about the “hasLayout” property. Frankly, I find it much easier to simply ignore IE. :)

List of films ordered by uses of the word “fuck”
It’s sort of perverse that a number of my favorite movies are very high on the list. Additionally, I thought I’d point out that Good Will Hunting is pretty far down the list — I would have thought it’d be much, much higher. On the other hand, it’s no sur

New Longhorn Beta Screenies
Couple of thoughts: first, this looks pretty decent. The previous ones looked God-awful. Second, their rip off of Apple couldn’t be more evident, especially in the style of the Taskbar. Third, it’s nice to see that Apple isn’t the only OS maker that can’t

K-State seeks User Interface Designer
Kansas State University, the school I work for, is hiring a User Interface Designer. I don’t yet have a job description, qualifications, or salary range, but I am part of the search committee and will be getting that information soon. Should any of you be interested in a UI position in tropical Manhattan, KS, let me know and I’ll get you the info as soon as I have it.
Update: the job description and application information can now be found online.

History of NeXT
A nice and brief history of NeXT, which in it’s short life was nearly as interesting as Apple. I wonder why wour world would be like today if Apple had chosen BeOS, or (worse) Solaris or (God, help us) Windows NT over OpenStep as the starting point for Ma
